CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

ARRIVAL-The school day begins at 8:42am. Students line up on the blacktop area nearest the kindergarten playground doors (during bad weather they will enter the door on Sarasoda and wait in the hallway).  There is adult supervision until the entrance bell rings. Please say good-bye to your child outside. Arrival anytime after ___ is considered tardy and you will need to check you child in at the front office.

DEPARTURE-At the 3:36 dismissal, please come to the outside door on Sarasota to pick your child up.

We will only release children to their parents or caretakers, unless other arrangements are made in advance and in writing.  If you think your child can walk by himself/herself or with an older child please give your permission in writing. If your child rides the bus, please have him/her wear a tag with their name, bus number and drop-off location on it, for at least two weeks.  If for some reason in the future they are not to ride the bus home, I will need a note from you, with your signature explaining this.

BEHAVIOR-Be Kind, Be Safe and Be Productive. I will teach positive behavior and expect it from all students in all settings. Any concerns will be addressed through the Falcons Soar to Success, Positive Behavior Support Program (PBS).

LUNCH/REST-Lunchtime is at 11:35 am.  Please send lunches in boxes/bags labeled with child's name.  Money can be sent in daily or deposited into your child's account for future dates (see southredford.net Parent tab/Payschool).  Rest time is after lunch. The district supplies a rest mat, you may send in a small blanket and small travel size pillow. They will be sent home to be washed.

BIRTHDAYS-Birthday Celebrations will be simple. We will recognize birthdays at the end of the day. If parents choose, they can make arrangements to send in a SIMPLE treat (cookies, cupcakes, suckers, stickers, pencils, etc.). Please NO juice or cakes.

HOMEWORK-Students should be involved in reading EVERY NIGHT!  The reading materials can vary for example, library books, books from class, magazines, newspapers, etc.  Someone reading to the child, the child reading to someone or the child reading independently, can accomplish this. Remember to READ, READ, READ, AND READ SOME MORE!

Every Friday there will be assigned homework that is due the following school day. A folder will be provided to transport homework back and forth.  Included will be a comment and signature sheet.  Please record the assignment,  sign the form to assure that work has been completed and read any comments I have written. You may write any comments or concerns that you might have.  This should be one way of successfully communicating with each other.

Children need to understand that they share a responsibility in their education. One way to teach this is by expecting them to complete homework.  Parents can support them by providing a consistent place and time for homework to be done and by being there to help them.
